Unique Engagement Rings Are Not About Trends — They Are About You
One of the biggest pressures surrounding engagement rings is the idea that you are choosing something that must remain exactly the same for the rest of your life.
As someone who spends every day creating engagement rings, I've never quite understood why.
As people, we're constantly evolving.
Our tastes change.
Our style changes.
Our homes change.
Our priorities change.
Hopefully, we continue growing throughout our lives.
So why do we expect our rings to remain frozen in time?
One of the things I love most about fine jewelry is that it doesn't have to.
The gold can be reused.
A gemstone can be reset into a completely different design.
A ring can become another ring, a pendant, or something entirely new while still carrying the same memories and meaning.
That possibility is part of what makes precious materials so special.
Unlike most things we own, they are not disposable.
They can continue with us through different chapters of life.
For me, that creates a much more liberating way to think about engagement rings.
Instead of asking:
"Will I love this exact ring forever?"
I think a better question is:
"Does this feel like me right now?"
Because that is something we can answer honestly.
It doesn't need to predict who you'll be twenty years from now.
One of the things I find most beautiful about working with gold and natural gemstones is that they aren't fixed forever. A ring created today can be worn for decades, redesigned years later, passed on to someone else, or transformed into something entirely new. The materials remain, carrying their history forward. To me, that's far more meaningful than expecting a piece of jewelry to stay exactly the same for a lifetime.
Meaning doesn't come from permanence.
It comes from connection, memories, and allowing the things we love to grow with us.
